Expanded PTFE joint sealant tape is a highly versatile sealing material produced by expanding pure PTFE into a microporous structure of nodes and fibrils. This unique construction offers outstanding adaptability, high recovery rate, and excellent resistance to almost all industrial chemicals. The material easily conforms to damaged or uneven flange surfaces, eliminating the need for precise bolt torque. With an operational temperature range from –240 °C to +260 °C, expanded PTFE joint sealant tape performs reliably in both vacuum and high-pressure conditions. Its self-adhesive design ensures fast application and tight sealing without cold flow or aging, even in continuous service.
Applications:
Expanded PTFE joint sealant tape provides excellent sealing by filling surface irregularities in flange connections. However, improper installation can compromise performance. Surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned of old gaskets, oil, or corrosion to ensure adequate compression and uniform bolt load distribution. Incorrect tape end overlap, lack of staged torque tightening, or misalignment can lead to localized leakage or creep deformation. Careful attention to flange preparation, tape placement, and torque sequence is essential to achieve reliable, long-term sealing performance.
