Q1: How do I select the right size of expanded PTFE joint sealant tape?
A: As a general rule, choose a joint sealant tape width that is approximately 1/3 to 1/2 of the flange sealing surface width. For uneven or pitted surfaces, a thicker tape (e.g., 5mm or 7mm) is recommended to ensure full compression into voids.
Q2: Does the adhesive backing affect the chemical resistance?
A: The adhesive is only used to facilitate installation on vertical or overhead surfaces. Once the flange is bolted, the ePTFE joint sealant forms a tight mechanical seal, and the adhesive is isolated from the internal media.
